Why your supplements aren't working – the biggest mistakes almost everyone makes

I see it time and again in practice. People invest a lot of money in high-quality supplements, sometimes taking them for months or years, and then when we measure the results... nothing happens.


No improvement in the markers. No real change in the system. Often the opposite: more chaos instead of more health.


The reaction is almost always the same: "Then supplements probably don't work for me."


The inconvenient truth is:


It's almost never the supplements themselves that are the problem, but almost always the way they are used.

In recent years, a clear pattern has emerged. It's always the same mistakes with supplements that prevent the body from reacting at all.


Here are the most important ones.


1. Wrong products: Quality beats everything


Not all supplements are created equal, even if the marketing suggests otherwise. The most common problems are:


  • Inferior raw materials

  • Poor bioavailability (the body cannot absorb it at all)

  • Exposure to heavy metals or solvents

  • Unstable compounds (e.g., oxidized fats)


A classic example: not all magnesium is created equal. There's a world of difference between magnesium oxide and magnesium glycinate, both in terms of absorption and effect. When it comes to magnesium alone, I use my tried-and-tested magnesium protocol .


If the quality is not right, the active ingredient simply does not reach the system (or only insufficiently).



2. Incorrect timing: The body is not a static system.


Our metabolism follows a clear circadian rhythm. This means:


  • Morning → Activation, cortisol, energy production

  • Evening → Regeneration, repair, sleep


Nevertheless, many people take their supplements "eventually".


Typical mistakes:


  • Activating substances in the evening → poor sleep, lower HRV

  • Regenerative substances in the morning → effect is wasted

  • Fat-soluble vitamins without fat → no absorption

3. Interactions: Nutrients never act in isolation.


A key misconception: Many people view supplements as isolated components. In reality, the body works in networks.


Examples:


  • Vitamin D needs magnesium and fat

  • Iron is blocked by coffee

  • Zinc competes with copper

  • Medications can completely disrupt nutrient absorption.


There are countless examples. Ignoring these interactions prevents effectiveness – without even realizing it. Therefore, it makes sense to collaborate with experts, especially at the beginning when delving into the topic of prevention and longevity.



4. Too low a dosage: "A little doesn't help much"


Many dosages are based on minimum recommendations, not on therapeutic effect.


The problem:


  • Too low a dose → no measurable effect

  • Irregular intake → unstable blood levels


The body doesn't work with "a little bit better". It needs clear signals over time .


The effect is therefore created by:


  • sufficient dose

  • and above all: Constance



5. No measurement: Flying blind instead of strategy


That's one of the biggest mistakes ever. Many people supplement without:


  • Blood values

  • Progress checks

  • objective markers


The result:


  • It's impossible to know if something will work.

  • No trends are discernible.

  • Optimizing is futile.


Without measurement, any supplementation is an experiment, not a system. A simple starting point is measurement using laser spectroscopy . This allows nutrient deficiencies to be visualized elegantly and non-invasively.



6. No DNA basis: Every metabolism is different


Two people take the same supplement and react completely differently.


Why?


Because:


  • Detoxification systems work differently

  • Methylation is individual.

  • Transport proteins vary

  • Enzymes are differently active


Without genetic understanding, exactly what I often see happens:

Trial and error without direction.



7. Focus on “longevity hype” instead of the basics


A classic:


People take:


  • NMN

  • Resveratrol

  • Spermidine


…but at the same time have:


  • Magnesium deficiency

  • poor sleep quality

  • unstable blood sugar regulation


It's like putting high-performance tuning on a broken foundation. Without a stable base, even the best longevity compounds won't work.



8. Missing system: Individual substances instead of synergy


The biggest misconception of all:


Health is not an isolated problem, but a system.

In practice, we work with the “ 25 vitality factors ”.


Why?


Because real impact only occurs when multiple systems are addressed simultaneously:

  5. Individualization instead of standard solutions
